Anyone can make a nomination. |

Who is eligible to be nominated? |
| A: | Any company with an office located in the City of Alexandria who has either created an innovative technology or used technology in an innovative way is eligible to be nominated for the award. |

| A: | Company name and address, as well as the name, email address, and phone number of a company contact are required. |

What information must be provided to complete an entry in the Alexandria Innovation in Technology Awards competition? |
| A: | Companies must answer four questions that provide information supporting the judging criteria as well as submit a signed entry acknowledgement form. Companies may also provide supporting documentation, such as brochures, annual reports, press releases, and marketing materials. |

No, there are no entry fees and representatives of the finalist firms are invited to attend all official Alexandria Innovation in Technology Awards events free of charge. |

| A: | Nominees must complete the required applications found here. If chosen as a finalist, nominees must give a presentation to the judging panel. Finalists are expected to attend all official Alexandria Innovation in Technology Awards events, and give a presentation at the awards luncheon. |

| Q: | How is the winner of the Alexandria Innovation in Technology Awards determined? |
| A: | A small panel of judges reviews each complete application and narrows the field down to a small number of finalists. The same panel also then decides the winner of the award. |

| Q: | What are the judging criteria? |
| A: | Judges will evaluate entries on four criteria: (1) the innovation and uniqueness of the technology or use of technology; (2) improvements to sales, revenues, customer service, or the environment; (3) time, cost, and productivity improvements; and (4) the impact on the Alexandria community, the technology industry, or customers. |

| A: | For 2008, initial judging will be completed and finalists will be announced on March 7, 2008. The final winner will be announced at the Awards ceremony on April 10, 2008. |

| A: | The judges are members of the Alexandria community who are able to evaluate both the technology that has been nominated and the impact of the technology on the community and technology industry. |

| A: | The judges are selected by the Alexandria Innovation in Technology Awards Committee, which is comprised of representatives from the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, the Alexandria Commission on Information Technology, the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership, and the City of Alexandria. |

In addition to recognition at the events throughout the Alexandria Innovation in Technology Awards, the award and related events are generally covered in the local and regional press. The award winner is also invited to appear on the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce’s Comcast television show, Focus on Business.
